East India Company Pub & Eatery

I must admit that I am not familiar with Indian cuisine all that much but I did sample on a couple of occasions. The occasion this time was a lunch of retirees get together. The venue was at the East India Company Pub & Eatery.A lunch buffet was in order as in most downtown restaurant. Although this restaurant location is away from downtown on Somerset West in what appears to be an old house. The inside is lovely decorated keeping a theme of India. The buffet was not large but contained a good variety allowing to taste a good sample, a suggestion I would have is perhaps a small description of a dish as well as whether your mouth will suffer or not. A great suggestion was to get a small bowl of yogurt to decrease the spice level, works like as charm.I would recommend going, the service was always attentive to provide water or anything else our large group of 18 needed. A four stars!

Hosted a great holiday party for my staff here. Service was exceptional and food was amazing. Everyone left happy and with full bellies! Loved it and would definitely return and recommend EIC to anyone wanting to host a dinner party.

Great ambience and tasty Indian food. Its nice that they have a place to sit outside to eat during the summer. I would definitely visit again. There are a lot of vegetarian options to choose from.

I haven't been to many Indian buffets but this was pretty good. It had a pretty decent number of selections to choose from. The only thing disappointing was the fact that the naan bread wasn't included in the buffet price. At nearly $30 a head, I think you should have been included.

I have eaten here twice. Every dish tastes made fresh and delicious. The staff is always delightful. Some of the art displays are hundreds of years old. For the price you arent going to find better all you can eat.Any time I'm in Ottawa and craving outstanding butter chicken buffet, I'll be headed here.

This is an amazing restaurant. Polite staff, good indian food. Indian buffet with over 15 different dishes, deserts costs just 24 dollars.I was really impressed. Good job guys

Went for a dinner buffet on my friend’s birthday. This place was highly recommend to us by a few people. I am afraid it didn’t come close to my expectations. While it provided the variety that comes with buffets, one needs to really love Indian cuisine . It was too spicy for me. Naan bread was not part of the buffet which was a bit odd considering that it’s the Indian food people can easily identify. We purchased naan bread separately, so disappointing.

HiFood is good but non veg is served in the presence of Hindus God and Goddesses sculptures which is against the indian and religion cultures so its not good atleast give respect to the GOD. It is against Indian culture.

Best Indian food ever! I recommend the buffet to taste all the different food. Excellent service. Parking around. They have a terrase too. The sea food was great.

Beautiful decor and ambience. Very friendly and welcoming staff. The salad bar was excellent and lots of delicious main choices, both vegetarian and not. I loved the butter chicken and curried Canadian lamb. The dessert buffet was very special -- delectable small cheesecakes and small round sweet sponge cakes, very fresh and delicious cookies and rice pudding. Lovely and pleasant refuge in the bustling downtown.

This place has top notch decor and service. The food is delicious and high quality. Plenty of vegetarian options, though many would appreciate more vegan options. The price is fair and I'd even pay 5$ more to see more vegan friendly dishes. 😁

Dinner Buffet for one, with a glass of cheapest red wine, and 20% tip: $44. Decent variety and good flavor, but I don't think the buffet or wine was worth it. Too expensive for what you get. Maybe the lunch deal is better. Great service though.

My favourite spot for Indian food. Korma to die for. Naan is extra but totally worth it, it's super fresh and comes in different varieties. Lots of foods to choose from, you won't leave hungry. Dessert will take care of your sweet tooth but the main foods are far better.

I quite like Indian cuisine, and know enough to recognize good taste. This is definitely good.

My fav Indian food in Ottawa. Buffet is always hot and fresh with decent selection. Gluten and dairy-free items are clearly marked. The art and decor inside is beautiful.

Have been here for recent lunch buffet over a week day and prices were reasonable $18 per person. But shocker was there is no Biryani and roti included in the Buffet. We had few vegetarian curries and a chicken and lamb curry which were okay. But we had to eat them only with White rice as the veg pulav was very bad. Mango sweet was very sweet for me and rest of desserts were not at all fresh and hard. Worst part for me were ice creams with rainbow 🌈 colors and tastes bad. Ambiance was good. I have to mention about our waiter who is very attentive, He would be starring at us while eating to take the empty plates as soon we are done. At point I felt like he wanted us to finish fast and leave. I really didn’t like the way he treated us.

Excellent food and atmosphere. They have a very nice variety of food, and we'll labelled for all kinds of food preferences. Amazing pieces of art and architecture from the past adorn the entire restaurant, some are hundreds of years old. I highly recommend this experience.

Nice atmosphere with authentic decor, great buffet. A little on the spicy side so may not be for everyone.

By far the most FANCIEST, HIGH END restaurant I have been in. Food is amazing and you are surrounded by priceless wonderful artifacts.

This is the BEST Indian restaurant in Ottawa! The food is so authentic and delicious. My husband spent half a year in India and said that the food took him right back. The staff went above and beyond! They even had the chef come to meet us and give us a tour of the buffet to ensure all of our various dietary needs were met (including one of us being vegan and another with severe anaphylactic allergies). The service was incredibly friendly, I've never felt so welcome in a restaurant before. I cannot wait to come back! Thank you, East India Company, for providing some of the best hospitality I've ever experienced!

Very good service: the staff will fill up your glass of water constantly and help you however they can. The food is good. I had the all you can eat option. The lamb was too tough to cut or eat. The chicken was delicious and all their vegetarian options as well. The desert was okay, and they included a bowl of cut fresh fruits. I wish they had icecream too. You feel full real quick so go there very hungry. Great for large crowd since they have lots of room.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant (I am from PEI) & I have to say the food was absolutely delicious & so many amazing dishes to choose from....the staff went above & beyond in friendliness & service....the chef even came out & personally explained each dish to my daughter-in-law who has very severe allergies!! I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough

Amazing Indian buffet style. Been there many time for myself, for birthdays, gathering with friends and family. Highly recommended. A must if visiting the downtown scene.

For an restaurant inspired in Indian cuisine was good. I didn't like the fact that bread and naan wasn't included in the all-you-can-eat price since they are such a staple that goes terrific with Indian food.Staff was great, excellent customer service. There were very accommodating since we were a large group. Good experience overall.

So delicious - we enjoyed almost every single buffet item there and were pleased with everything, especially the Tawa Chicken that sizzled right before our eyes. We also really enjoyed the beautiful chutneys and desserts! The mango mouse and rice pudding was so delicious and if we weren't stuffed to bursting after eating it, we would have had more.Best Indian food I've had outside my own grandmother's kitchen.
